Update Covid-19

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, limitations on numbers etc, we will not be taking any hall bookings for one off events until the New Year. Thank you for your patience and support in this and we can’t wait to host your children’s parties and events as soon as we are possibly able. Keep checking this website or the noticeboard outside the church for any changes in this policy.

Pricing structure for Children’s Parties

Our standard hire rate is £65 per session* on either a Saturday morning or afternoon, or a Sunday afternoon. This is for children’s parties only and all other functions and evening bookings are still priced at our standard £24 per hour. With any hire of the hall full use of the kitchen and its contents is included in the price.

* a session is a four hour time slot. A session is not to end later than 6:30pm.

About our Church Hall

The Church Hall has been a familiar sight in Southwick for many years since it  was originally built in the 1960s. Many a dance recital, children’s party  and  Sunday school session have been held there in the 50 years that it has served the community.

A major project commenced in 2010 to extend and renovate the hall, providing more space and vastly improved kitchen and toilet facilities. (including disabled and separate smaller children’s toilets, and a baby changing area).  The project was finished in January 2011 and the hall is back in service again and all of our regular users are enjoying the improved facilities including  Church Lane Nursery, Brownies, Guides, Southwick Flower Club, The Women’s Institute and Martial Arts groups.

Three sets of french doors open out onto a patio and a small grassed area and flower beds.  The patio area can be used during summer months. There is on-site parking for 12 cars and a bicycle rack. The hall is equipped with 30 large tables, each one seating 6-8 and approximately 100 chairs which are available for hirers. We also have smaller chairs and tables for younger children. Crockery, cutlery and glassware are also available for use by all hirers. The kitchen features a 6 ringed gas hob with electric double oven, a commercial dishwasher and 2 kettles. There is also a hot water urn if you wish to use it. PLEASE NOTE: We do not allow bouncy castles either in the hall or on the garden area outside.

St Michael’s PCC (Parochial Church Council) is open to other faith groups and non-faith groups, for example Humanists, using the hall for ceremonies that are not explicitly Christian. However, St Michael’s PCC and the Rector need to be fully consulted and approval needs to be acquired at least two months prior to the planned event.
